The Practice aims to deliver a high quality service to our patients in line with the guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence and the National Service Frameworks for Wales.

Essential Services

  • The management of patients who are ill or believe themselves to be ill, with conditions from which recovery is generally expected, for the duration of that condition, including the relevant health promotion advice and referral as appropriate reflecting patient choice wherever practicable.
  • General Management of patients who are terminally ill.
  • The management of chronic diseases.
  • The provision of continuous holistic treatment and care for all registered patients.

Child Health Surveillance and Childhood Immunisations and Vaccinations

The practice provides a full immunisation service and runs a child development clinic in association with the Health Visitor.

An open access Child Health Clinic / Well Baby Clinic is held on Thursday afternoons between 1:30pm and 4:00pm.  This includes Child Development and is run by a GP and nurse in association with the Health Visitor.

Cervical screening

The practice participates in the Cervical Screening Programme for women aged 20 to 64. We operate a call and recall system and all female patients between the ages of 20 and 64 will be sent regular appointments (3 yearly) to attend for this investigation. If you have not had a smear within the last 3 years please ask for an appointment. This involves call for regular (3 yearly appointments) and recall for follow up appointments.

Cervical smear testing is carried out by Dr Lynne Dowding, Dr Jane Chivers and specially trained Practice Nurses.

Family planning and Contraception

Family planning and contraceptive advice (excluding coil fitting) is provided by all the doctors. Emergency contraception is also available after consultation with a doctor.

Maternity services

To improve patient experience from 1st November 2023 we are implementing a new digital referral system for new pregnancy for patients or nominated person to self-refer to SBUHB Maternity services via a QR code or by using the following link to register pregnancy on Swansea Bay website.

Mental Health Liason Nurse

Ms Stacey Murphy provides help in the form of coping strategies to patients suffering from stress, depression, bereavemnt etc.

Minor surgery

Minor surgery procedures (curettage, cautery, cryocautery for warts and verrucas and other skin lesions)

Phlebotomy (blood tests)

Travel advice and immunisations

Travel advice and NHS immunisations are provided by practice nurse.

Patients are advised to book an appointment at least 6 weeks in advance of their intended date of travel. If it is left too late or you require specialised injections, you may have to have these at a private travel clinic.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy services can be accessed via self referral by calling 01792 487453, Monday to Friday 9.00am to 13.00pm (excluding bank holidays). Alternatively, we can book you in for a telephone consultation with our Cluster-based First Contact Physiotherapy Service
